Operation Write Home!

Hey there blog hoppers! Thanks for coming by today, thought I would start off with how I found out about Operation Write Home. Last month, OWH was a part of the blog challenge over at Elle's Studio. I participated and was so excited to send off my cards to soldiers who would put them to good use.
What a truly fabulous organization, I am already working on my next batch to send off.
My dad is retired Air Force and my brother was in the Navy, for me Memorial Day is both a day of remembrance and also a day that reminds me to give thanks to the brave men and women that are serving and their families that sacrifice so much.

This month's edition of Simply Handmade holds a very special place in my heart.

Like it says in the magazine blurb, I made this for Angie and her husband. Of course when I found out it was going to be published, I had to ask for it back!

By the way, he made it safely home from Iraq back in January!

Okay, up next in the this mega blog hop is Brenda!
Have a fabulous holiday weekend and have fun on the OWH HOP!

A little RAK? This is huge and full of some highly desirable pieces (Melody Ross and Webster's Pages). I'm drooling already. I am one of your readers... have been for several months (less than a year, I know). I first heard of OWH last year when my MOPS group decided to make and send some cards in as our craft that month. It meant so much to me to make those cards for OWH because my husband was deployed for a year at that time.

Hi Samantha Sweetie...
I am Country Wings your newest follower. I have never made a card, but you have so inspired me along with the other ladies on this blog hop journey. I love the made over bingo cards and the banner is so precious. What an awesome job you have done.

I have been confined to the house and in the hospital over the past month. I have been wanting something that I can do from my recliner that doesn't exhaust my lungs. I think I have found it. I don't have a lot of supplies, but am going to try and make a few cards from what I do have to submit for the soldiers. What a wonderful idea. I love it, and I too can be doing something to help out. Thank you for sharing with me.

Please stop by and say hi. I would be so honored if you signed up to follow my blog as well.

Country hugs sweetie...Sherry

I've known about OWH about a month and plan on becoming more active. I'm a Vet and know what it means to get mail while you are away from home, and about sending mail to loved ones who are deployed (DH was deployed numerous times before he retired).

Thanks for the opportunity to win that fantastic blog candy.
