Storyteller

I have been working on journaling lately. I have a few stories to tell and i want to record the details before I forget them and I will forget them. I am one of those people that is not so great at retelling a story. So, instead of juicy details, my retell will sound like " um the gist of the story is this...."

My dear friend Megan and I love a good bargain, the thrill of the hunt...exciting for us. She introduced me to Ebay...800 transactions ago. Before we became moms we were regulars at Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls, DSW we have even hunted done bargains in Europe together. These days, well my shopping minutes are spent at the grocery store and Target. But twice a year, since we were pregnant with our firstborn (who are 7 days apart) we reserve time to go to the Family Swap Meet sponsored by Scripps Parent Connection. It is a mom's bargain hunt extravaganza. A few hundred parents ready to strike a deal, not wanting to cart home any of the stuff they brought to get rid of...it's wonderful! Tap and ballet shoes for $2! Mini Boden dress for Thanksgiving $5! Ariel Barbie w/ clothes 50 cents, woot!

On this particular day, as we were leaving Megan's house, she questioned whether or not we really needed the wheeled cart you see in the photo. I just had to laugh. Ummm, yeah, we are going to bring it.... the photo was taken about 45 minutes before we left, so trust me it was overflowing by the time we left! I think I spent $50 total!

Oh Sammy...I just LOVE our tradition. I know...what was I thinking...really? No wheelie cart? WHATEVA! :) We'll be going to that damn swap meet when our girls are like 15! :) Our shopping habits have changed a bit over the years indeed-but have to say I still love it when we find a good bargain! xo
