Sweetest Friend

My sweetest friend has a lot on her mind, I was thinking of her when I made this today. The fabulous sketch is from the Cuttlebug Challenge. The wreath was made from my new EK
success punch-"Rock Fern", I am really glad I got it...I love it. I used a monochromatic patterned green paper for the punches, I thought it would give the wreath more depth. I can't take any credit for thinking of this pretty little wreath. Katie Watson at She's Scrappy made a sweet wreath for her lovely Christmas cottage and you can see it here. I am always inspired by her creations.
The stripey blue paper in the back is Martha Stewart Wood Grains, it is a beautiful paper and I wished it showed more.

Just 2 More Things

Creamy Pesto Salad Dressing..does that make you of OLD SPAGHETTI FACTORY? It's back in San Diego! Woo Hoo!

It's true, we ate there tonight. They are back and in the same exact location and they opened this past Monday. The girls loved the spaghetti noodles plain and I loved my baked chicken. Husband had the crab ravioli and they were yummy.

Thing Number Two

Just wanted to share this cute punch from EK success. I love the case design, it feels like a cell phone.

Blogger Woes

Is it just me? 4 out 5 times that I try to upload photos here on blogger, I can booted off the internet and I have to restart my computer or wait for 15 minutes for my internet to reconnect. Anyone else out there that this happens to?
Another frustration I have is every once in a while, tonight, my photo will upload and turn itself clockwise. I have no idea how to fix this, my solution? I retake the whole photo, upload to my computer and then try to upload to my blog. If you know a better way please shout it over here. Mojomonday is another fun blog that has weekly sketches to challenge card makers. Here is my very first card with them. I do like these card challenges, 1)I am getting cards made and stashed for later 2) making cards based on sketches reminds of doing a jigsaw puzzle which I actually like to do.
K and co paper, Sasafrass Lass stamps, cardstock and ink from Close to My Heart

Pink Elephant Week III

This is attempt numero dos, the first card I tried to make with this sketch from The Pink Elephant is now lost in "the pile". I really didn't like it. I used these papers from Kand Co and the lovely stamp set from Sassafrass Lass to make another card, which I will post next, and I loved the colors together. So I decided to try again and this is what I came up with. I think I like all paper better if it is distressed and grunged up, works for me!

Recycled Bits

Didn't think I would make anything for either of these challenges-just wasn't feeling it. I didn't give up! I repurposed some bits for this one, the acetate flower is from A Heidi Swapp package of gems-I cut it with my cuttlebug and embossed it with a snowflake folder( I only have 4 embossing folders-so snowflakes it is). I stitched around it so that it would show up better. The white eyelet cardstock is from some Fancy Pants packaging9last photo), it came off a huge pack of felt shapes- which are on sale at Yellow Bird for only $6.00! CPS challenge is a sketch and The Cuttle bug challenge is to use acetate.

Paper is from Kand Co
By the the way, RUN don't walk to Michaels...today I bought Valentine's gems for only 30 cents per pack! Yep, The Valentine stuff is 70% off . The bling is a pack of clear, red and pink bling.

Yellow Butterfly

Cuttle bug's challenge this week was the color yellow and that was tricky for me. You see, I have lots and lots of pink 'round here.
I cut out the butterflys and machine stitched them down.

First Ears

I really hoped that Emma would want a pair of ears. We went to Disneyland for her very first time and it was adorable, she loved it. Upon seeing these pink "princess" ears, she knew what she wanted. I was hoping for a more traditional pair, but she had already made up her mind-pink ears only. She was entranced with the Emporium's display windows on Main St., USA-here she is checking one out-notice the princess in the window.

For this simple layout I stitched the blossoms, one is from ribbon, one is seam binding and the pink one is my very first yo yo. I didn't know how to make a yo yo so I just googled "how to make a yo yo"! Which by the way, you can google just about any "how to" and get a tutorial. I didn't know that!

The Pink Elephant

The weekly challenge over at The Pink Elephant is to use the colors pink, black and white in your card.
The Nordstrom's childrens dept already has their little girl bathing suits out and I was inspired by the sweetest pink suit that had layers and layers of tulle-like a little tutu. The layers in this card were created with crepe. Flowers from Close to My Heart, stamps are Pink Persimmon, and scroll is Maya Road- black glitter from Pink Paislee.
Wanna check out a really cool scrapbooking retreat? It is located in Riverside County, CA....French Valley-look here!

Cuttle bug Weekly Challenge Shaped Card

I am loving the challenges I find on different blogs, can you tell? The challenge of the week over on the Cuttlebug log is to make a shaped card. The design team has some amazing samples, very creative-I love the strawberry! So, while watching The Office I made this birdie card. My husband didn't get what the clock was for....I tried to explain that this wasn't a science project and I wasn't going for any realism.

I found a newwebsite that is fun, it is for scrapbookers and it offers one discounted item per day and it is a steep discount! Check out Peachycheap.com

Are you ready for Valentine's Day?

CPS Weekly Challenge Feb. 8

Here is my card for the weekly challenge at Card Positioning Systems. Since I had all the stuff out I made 2, wish I had made a few more... So far I have 4 friends expecting this summer and I think these will be saved for them- I will have to pull out the sewing machine etc. to make a few more.

That deer stamp just makes me happy. I know the whole deer thing is a little cliche by now, but I do love it so much! I have not tired of it yet. Anything in the paper world that you are getting tired of? I am a little bit done with all the flourish stuff, too bad because it looks like it is here to stay for awhile.

I used lots of stuff on these, tickets are from Tim Holtz, deer stamp Is Sasafrass Lass, Brown Bag ink from Close to My Heart, polka dot paper is Daisy D's, Cosmo Cricket, Prima Flowers.

A Shabby little Cottage For Me

After seeing Katie's amazing little Christmas cottages here and her video tutorial, I knew that I would have to get me one too! So off to Point Loma to the sweetest paperie ever-Paper Tales and I bought the middle sized house. After I saw how time consuming Katie's roof was ( she used a scalloped border punch and patiently figured out where to place her scallops around the roofs gables) I decided to drown my roof in sparkly pink glitter and I do love it so much. The best thing that I learned from Katie was to apply the paper onto each side of the house and then stick a light source into the house to see where to use a craft knife to cut the windows and door out. In a million years I would not have figured that one out on my own! Thanks Katie! If you check out her blog you will easily understand why I want to be her when I grow up!

Friends who inspire

Papertrey Ink is having a fun contest! All you have to do is link back a card you made for a special friend. So here is my contribution.... a little card that I made for someone who always inspires me.

I used one of Tim Holtz's masks, for the first time, oh and this was the first time that I tried a Maya Mist! I laid the mask over some super old Close to My Heart paper, it has a gray crochet design, and I spritzed the silver mist over it. The stamp is by Inkadinkadoo, purchased at Paper Tales in Point Loma. For the green ribbon, I like to use a wired ribbon, I pulled out one of the sides' ribbon and then pulled on the other side until I made a little medallion, tied it off and trimmed with scallop scissors.

If you want to be in the card contest head over to this blog nichloeheady.typepad.com

Flying rabbits

I like reading blogs that give you a peek into the home of the writer. It might just be a little decorated table or sometimes a wide shot of a room. So I will share too. This is my three year old's room. I made the bulletin board from a frame, wrapping paper that I have had stashed for years,a Maya Road chipboard birdie and an old rose pin of my own. The photos are only clipped on with a mini bull nose clip so they can be changed up as needed.
